Each are off white in colour during daylight or under artificial light and glows fluorescent turquoise in the dark.

The work is inspired by the wonder of nature and of the magic of Bioflourescence found in coral. After the work has been charged with light and plunged into darkness it's glow can be vibrant and uplifting for the viewer to experience.

It was my aim with this piece to capture some of the essence and wow factor of this natural phenomenon and bring it to an audience.

When displaying the work at home no special lighting is required. As long as the object has been exposed to light, daylight or artificial light it will glow in the dark. The brighter the light it is exposed to and the darker the space at night the more vibrant the glow. This may be appealing for children who may be afraid of the dark when they go to bed.

The work and all works in this series have been carefully, delicately and lovingly made by hand, with each petal added one by one and arranged to ensure that the piece is of interest to view from all angles. The glow in the dark paint had also been applied carefully by hand to ensure each work has it's own unique visible glow. In this work you can see that the fine lines pick up and exude the glow, highlighting the minute details.

Each object was made as a reminder of the beauty of this planet and of the wish that we may open up our eyes and see the beauty that lay before us and strive to protect it. 10% of all proceeds go towards protecting our coral reefs.
